Happy birthday, Boo! And other news...
Updates from the Urban Mushers over the last month
Hey, friends! We hope you all have had a great summer so far! A few things to catch you all up on…
Last newsletter, we had taken Pence back to the vet and found out she had a hematoma on/in her ear. After a few days of putting a cold compress on it, it started going away! Although it is not completely gone yet, it is much less noticeable. Glad that is all it was!
The last newsletter also left off just before the July 4th holiday. Because we had so many fireworks the couple of weeks leading up to the holiday, we decided to take Boo and Pence to my dad’s house for the weekend. He lives out in the country where there are not too many houses nearby and much fewer fireworks.
The dogs enjoyed a lot of free running while they were there!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOO! On August 1, Boo turned NINE years old!! How is that even possible?! He is still his same ol chaotic self, just with a few random grey hairs in his black coat now.

Funny/adorable short story…Riley was home with Pence during a bad storm. I received the below photo out of the blue while I was coaching pickleball.

I laughed, then was like what the heck is going on right now?? Riley told me he was cuddling with Pence on the couch during the storm. He got up off the couch to get some food in the kitchen. He turned around and saw Pence walking through the kitchen with the blanket on her back! She had apparently followed him in there and either didn’t notice or didn’t care that the blanket went with her lol.

In other news, I got a BRONCO! I’ve been wanting one ever since Ford started making them again in 2021. We’ve been talking about needing a bigger vehicle, especially for when we travel with the dogs and our racing gear. It is SO FUN to drive, especially with the hard tops off. I’ve already added a trailer hitch to it to tow our bikes and scooters, and added seat covers and a new dog hammock to protect the seats and the dogs.

Speaking of traveling with dogs…we’re starting to compile a list of fall/winter races, but some have not been announced yet. When we know more, we will share a list of events with you and try to nail down which ones we may attend/participate in!
That’s all for now…talk to you soon!

Our favorite gear:
We often get asked about the gear we use for both us and our dogs. We talk about everything we use from helmets and harnesses to lights and antennas for our bike.
