Lots of Updates Today!
Updates on neighbor's Rottweiler, a scooter run, treats, vet appts, etc
Hi friends! I know it’s been a minute, but better late than never! Several updates for you, including meeting my grandparent's new puppy, an update on the neighbor’s Rottweiler situation, a fun scooter run, pig ear treats, and upcoming vet appointments for the dogs.
We’ve had multiple rounds of severe weather in our area again, which the dogs have not been fond of. However, it did make for a pretty sunset walk one night.

On Mother’s Day, I flew to Florida to spend the week with my mom. We had a blast playing pickleball, golf, lots of games, and going to the AC/DC concert in Tampa! If you’ve been considering going to one of their shows, I definitely recommend it!
I also got to meet a new furry family member…meet Gracie, a toy pardi poodle! She belongs to my grandparents in Florida and is about 15 weeks old now.

While I was gone, Riley stayed home with the dogs. They had a pretty low-key week together.

An update on our neighbor/Rottweiler situation. Since we trespassed our neighbor several months ago, and they were forced to build a fence for their aggressive and wandering Rottweiler, we hadn’t seen or heard much from them. But it seems like now that the weather has turned warmer, they’re back to their old habits.
While I was mowing the yard before I went to Florida, the Rottweiler (Tank) was roaming free and chased a rabbit through my yard and ventured up to my garage door again. It was the first time in several months, so I let it slide this time.

However, when I returned home and took the dogs on a walk, a man around the corner flagged us down. He asked us if we’d ever had any issues with the Rottweiler roaming the neighborhood. I told him I couldn’t even begin to tell him all the issues we’ve had.
This man told me he had a friend over while I was away, and his friend had a Doberman with him that was laying in the man’s yard. Apparently, Tank came out of nowhere and attacked the Doberman, grabbing it around the neck, refusing to let go. The man tried to separate the dogs and called the cops. Three cops and animal control arrived, but Tank had run away by then. They searched for a while, but could not find the Rottweiler to remove him. My idiot neighbor refuses to open the door for cops, so as far as we know, the Rottweiler still has not been removed from the neighborhood.
I really hate that it came to someone/an animal actually getting hurt before the local authorities would do anything about it. We’ve been dealing with this dog for nearly 3 years now and no one would take our stories seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I’m obviously a dog lover, and know several Rottweilers personally that are not bad dogs what so ever. This is clearly an owner/training (or lack thereof) issue.
We have not heard what happened to the Doberman, but I hope it is ok. Until we know for sure that the Rottweiler has been removed from the neighborhood, we will be limiting Boo and Pence’s time outside of our fence, unless it is at my dad’s house or somewhere else safe. Rest assured, we will protect them.

For some exciting news, we took the dogs on their first scooter run in probably 6 months! It was a cool 50 degrees outside, and they had been bouncing off the walls, so I decided to take them on a run.
The scooter tires needed aired up and the leads put together, but it didn’t take too long. Pence also got to try out her new Howling Dog harness that is highly reflective, just like Boo’s.
I hooked the dogs up, and the GoPro, and off we went! Typically, after not running for so long, the dogs can be a bit out of practice and get a little distracted. However, I was thoroughly surprised how smoothly the run went!
Pence will be turning 12 in June, and Boo 9 in August, but they are still absolutely rocking it! We topped out around 18mph and just went a mile. I didn’t want to push it since it had been so long since they last ran, and was a bit on the warmer side. Check out the highlights of our run in my Instagram reel video below!

As a treat, we gave each of the dogs a pig ear. Oh, the D R A M A that has ensued. Boo gnawed on his for hours one night. Pence just cuddled up with hers. At some point while I was sleeping, one pig ear disappeared. One of the dogs likely hid it somewhere in the house, but your guess is as good as mine. Since then, it has been a battle between the dogs of stealing the remaining ear.

Finally the last update for today…it is unfortunately that time of year again. Time for Boo and Pence’s annual vet checkups and vaccines. The clinic we had Pence spayed at a couple years ago has a vaccine clinic that offers vaccines at nearly a quarter of the price that our vet office does. I’ll be taking both dogs there next week for their shots.
The following week, both dogs are scheduled for their check ups. For my sanity and ease, I’ve scheduled them on separate days. Let’s be honest, Boo is really the problem child in these situations, but when he gets super anxious, it sometimes rubs off on Pence, and I don’t want to stress her out anymore than she already may be.
Fingers crossed we can get everything done on the first try this time and that things go as smoothly as possible! We’ll let you know how it goes.
Ok, so I know that was a lot of updates. We’ll try to space them out more as they happen again. It’s just been a busy few weeks! Until next time…
